New Vision Portfolio Added to Student Curriculum

When President Kennedy spoke his famous inaugural phrase �ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country, he proved that words inspire action. So to, Alexander Hamilton used vision to motivate personal capabilities. Following these powerful examples, Hamilton Friends has added a new and improved Vision Portfolio� to their first year student curriculum.

The Vision Portfolio� is a required activity of the first year academic program and is concerned with developing three statements: a list of core personal values, a personal vision statement, and a personal mission statement. It is an integral part of the first year Student Notebook.

�The Vision Statement Portfolio is meant to help drive our inner passions,� said George Cox, President of Hamilton Friends. �This new addition to the curriculum is going to change the way the students see themselves reaching their goals.�

The Vision Portfolio� is the first part of The Hamilton Leaders Academy empowerment curriculum, which is meant to help Hamilton Scholars develop big dreams and long term goals; manage the details of their daily lives; and assess both the validity of their dreams, goals and progress toward attaining them.

�We hope this Portfolio will give students the tools and structure they need to walk through the self-reflective process of articulating their hopes and dreams,� said Joslin Boroughs, Director of Operations.
